Terengganu Trip- preparation for Credit Suisse Trip(my 1st trip with WWF)


This is Awi's Yellow House in Kuala Terengganu.It's a bagpacker's lodge...It's such a nice place to stay. RM25 per night!!!!with an open toilet..you can watch the stars while showering!

HCVF(High Conservation Value Forest) Camera Trapping in Terengganu. We found a place with many animal track(elephants,tapir,pigs,tigers.....).It's basically a highway for them. That's an Asian Giant Turtle we saw by accident.It's a rare species.

Credit Suisse(Singapore) - WWF- KPKKT in Terengganu (2nd trip with WWF)

I enjoyed this trip alot because it's made up of an interesting group with different citizenship(france,german,australian,indian,singaporean,malaysian..)

• Paka Beach (in case you dont know, Paka is a small town in Terengganu)
• Riding Hilux(TOYOTA)
• We were trekking to retrieve the camera traps.
• A bear footprint.

Kenyir Lake

• Bewah Cave (KenyirLake)&the view from the cave.
• We rode boat for island hoping in Kenyir Lake. The boat was soooooo speedy until i have to hold my cap in case it flew off to the lake ,which cause penalty.
  

Chemerong Waterfall!!!!!

• after lunch in Petang Island(Kenyir Lake).
• a place full of butterflies seeking for mineral.It's like heaven when they are flying everywhere.
  

Kenyir Spa&Resort - too bad i dont have a picture of the bathroom.It's as big as the room .damn luxurious!

HCVF National Toolkit Consultation(Sarawak) in Kuching (3rd trip)

The workshop was held in Grand Margherita Hotel,Kuching.Sorry that i dont have any pictures of the hotel :)

I went to Semenggoh Rehabilitation Centre on the next day!took half-day leave for it.forgot to tell you guys.

I was so lucky to see Delima & her newborn baby when they 1st showed up.They are on the newspaper the next day!

Prosperity and Purity, Red and White

Firstly, I would like to apologise for not making a special post for the blog. Just doing a post for my own blog took me more than an hour. So, forgive me for extracting it and putting it here. At least there will be something new to see right? =) Take care guys!

In just about an hour's time, the long minute hand of the clock will strike 12. With the omnious twelve chimes, the day will be over, and it will be Tuesday. More importantly, the 15 days of 2009 Chinese New Year will have come to an end. The ushering of the year of the Ox will be done, and our daily lives will go on as we prepare to face another year of trials and tribulations. To me, the 15 previous days and days to come is very significant.

Anyways, before i bore you to death, let me describe my first CNY celebrations away from home. Truly a different experience, being away from family and celebrating in a country where such celebrations are barely noticeable, to say the least. In London, most people do not celebrate Chinese New Year, other than the chinese of course(duh). China town is exceptionally packed and decorated with lanterns. Word of lion dance perfomances and fireworks near Leicester square is all i know of the celebrations.

In Passfield, my hall of residence, we decorated our hall with red packets in shapes of lanterns etc etc. It was a new experience for me, as we never really decorated the house before back home. It was really fun staying up and making all the decor. Here are a few pics to show, i know my hair is freaking weird. =\




That was the saturday night where we were all busy decorating the place. The following day, we woke up and started cleaning our rooms; the traditional spring cleaning. After that, the arrival of the master chefs, for we were planning a big 'reunion' dinner! Despite being 13 hours away from home, we will prevail, and strive to produce the best we can. The following is the Chinese New Year menu for the day. Price of GBP 5.50 per person, with a disclaimer stating we will not be liable as well.

The 5 of us toiled and endured nearly 4 hours of cooking to produce a magnificent feast! We started cooking at about 5.30 - 6 and we finished at about 9.40. Dinner started at 10pm! woohooo! Behold!





It was a really good feast, and at a charge of GBP 5.50 per person, i must say that it is quite a good worthy meal. With this session, our cooking skills have leveled up by tenfold.

Sadly, the next day was Monday, a school day. Imagine the First Day of CNY is to wake up at 9am and attend a 10am lecture. -sigh- However, we must strive to do the best in whatever situation we may be in. Anyways, the following Monday, the amazing miracle happenned.

SNOW!

It first started snowing the night before, which is a sunday night. Stayed up late till about 5am to create a snowman! First time snowman maker, it was a difficult chore. By no means as easy as seen on tv. We weren't sure how to roll the snow into a ball as it kept breaking up. And it was so dam cold and tiring! Still, it was a great experience. The next morning is when we heard that school was closed due to the heavy snow! Such a fortune! We were able to play snowball fights and run around in the beautiful blanketed city. It was truly like in a fairy tale....

Happy 2009, guys.. Writing this post reminds me of last year, when i did the reminiscence post of our school days, which you can find here. Certainly brings back memories. I don't think i'll do another 'reminiscing' type of post, cause you guys might find it boring. Plus, nothing much happened throughout 2008. There were so few 'mamak outings' and ever fewer gatherings.

Perhaps someone will be willing to step up and make their 'reminiscing' post. Haha, wonder what did you guys feel during our time together since 2005. I'll just be blurting out random stuff, so bear with me ya.

London is a great place to be studying in. After a month or so of being in London, I was able to adapt to almost all aspects of life here. Eating out in London is very much more expensive than making your own meals. After about a month or so of eating out, my roommates and I have began cooking our own meals. Split among 3-4 ppl, an average meal would cost each of us about GBP 1.50. This is very cheap, especially when the supermarkets sell products at half-priced and so on.

The weather is becoming increasingly cold. From the delightful 10degrees(this is considered warm), it is now -4 degrees at coldest. When the wind blows, and you don't have any gloves or scarf on, it will be pure torture.

One of the good thing about London is that there are parks everywhere. Every couple of blocks, and there will be a 'green-area' where there are trees, walkways, and benches to sit. Some of the bigger parks will have ponds. It's not very pretty now, in the middle of the winter, but during the spring/summer, it will be great to sit under the sun with your lunch in hand.

At the beginning of last month, many of my hallmates were leaving back to their home countries. It was quite a sad feeling seeing everyone pack and leave happily, to meet their family and friends while I'll be staying here during the hols. No choice but to bear with it for 6 more months. Hopefully i'll be able to return home early June. Otherwise it would be at the end of the month.

Over the last month, made quite a few calls to family and friends. Dam good to hear their voices again. Found out quite a bit of news of happenings among some of them. Hehe.. Didn't know i was so outdated. Can't wait to return home and hang out. STPM is over and you guys are now advancing to the next stage of your life. Some of you even started work already. Heh, we are no longer kids rite...

Well, during my times of down and loneliness, I turn to something great.

This is definitely the 2nd best thing ever. The best is of course the real thing =). I don't think i've said it, but i truly appreciate this. Thank you. I won't post any pics of it's contents tho, pls excuse me for being a bit selfish =) haha.. will show it to you guys next time =P

Nothing much comes to my head right now, so don't think i will be able to blog anything interesting. =/ I'll take my leave then, take care guys, see you during the summer!
